Happy gotcha day to my sweet boy, Benj. 2 years ago @ian_messner and I had no clue what we were getting into when we adopted this little monster. A 15 lb (aka giant), 1 year old Yorkie with a history no one knew , who had never even been potty trained, and with severe anxiety in all aspects of life. All he really needed was a safe place and some love and attention. He took to us immediately at the shelter, but we still had to earn his trust. It took months before Benji learned how to comfortably sit or lay with us and over a year to trust that when we left to go to work or run an errand, we would come back. As time went on his personality began to show, he began to learn us and we learned him. There are times where he tested our patience (he still does regularly) but he has turned out to be the most loving companion.
